Once again this year, the Fondazione Pomara Scibetta enthusiastically participated in the Turin International Book Fair, bringing to the event not only books but a vision of culture that embraces words, materials, art, and memory.
At the heart of Pavilion 3 – Stand P142, the Foundation’s space became a vibrant place for meeting, reflection, and discovery. The setup was designed as a small world to explore, where visitors could learn up close about the history and identity of the Massarosa Literary Award, the oldest narrative competition in Tuscany, established in 1947 and revived thanks to a recovery and enhancement project supported in part by the Foundation.
During the days of the Fair, our stand welcomed dozens of curious and passionate visitors: some stopped to browse, others asked questions about the Award, and many wanted to meet the winners of recent editions.
Dominating the space was The Mad Hatter, a visionary and material sculpture created by Emiliano Filippi: a work inspired by Lewis Carroll’s character, reimagined with an ironic and surreal touch, perfectly reflecting the spirit of the Foundation. Sitting atop a stack of books and made from iron and recycled materials, the sculpture drew the attention of many, becoming a true icon of the stand.
The Book Fair was also an opportunity for us to convey the deeper identity of the Massarosa Award: not just a literary competition, but a cultural project aimed at giving voice to new Italian literature and discovering emerging voices.
We thank everyone who visited us, stopped by, asked questions, listened, and reflected.
Because for us, more than anything else, culture is this: connection.
