During the final evening of the 2024 Massarosa Literary Award, held on Saturday, November 23, at the Teatro Vittoria Manzoni, Roberta Recchia was announced as the winner with All the Life That Remains, published by Einaudi.
The event, reaching a new milestone thanks to the collaboration between the Municipality of Massarosa and local cultural organizations – including our Foundation – once again welcomed a large and attentive audience. Hosted by journalist Claudio Sottili, the evening featured institutional speeches, readings, and musical performances.
The 2024 shortlist included: All the Life That Remains by Roberta Recchia (Einaudi), Open Story by Davide Orecchio (Bompiani), Wintertime by Dario Levantino (Fazi), The Place of Words by Simona Sparaco (Solferino), and The Language of the Body by Cristina Cassar Scalia (Einaudi).
In her novel, Recchia sensitively explores themes of grief and the process of recovery. The protagonist, a mother struck by sudden loss, navigates the emotional ruins of what remains, searching for a way to continue living without forgetting. The author employs a clear, essential prose that avoids sentimentality while retaining emotional depth.
All the Life That Remains is a book that addresses pain with restraint and truth, illuminating everyday life through small epiphanies.
The popular jury awarded the novel for its emotional depth and the honesty with which it portrays the gray areas of the human soul. A well-deserved success for Roberta Recchia, who approached a universal theme with a personal and recognizable voice.
