Massarosa

The Massarosa Literary Prize (PLM) was established in 1947 thanks to the brilliant initiative of a group of university students. Chronologically, it is the third literary prize in Italy, after the Bagutta (1926) and the Viareggio (1929).

The PLM is distinguished by its focus on debut novels and its dual voting system. A technical jury selects the novels participating in the competition, identifying a shortlist of five finalists. Subsequently, a popular jury, composed of 50 randomly selected citizens, determines the winner during the evocative final ceremony.

During the evening, the Technical Jury Prize is also awarded, with the winner selected exclusively by the technical jury, as well as the Special Prize for Cover Design, assigned through the dual-jury system.

The Foundation has supported the PLM since 2018.
