Gli Sketchbook
di Antonella Salvetti

Thirty years of watercolours and an endless passion for the local landscape.
This is how Antonella Salvetti presents herself, an artist and author of small illustrated guides published by @colore_snc, whose aim is to enhance Italy’s natural heritage.

The Fondazione Pomara Scibetta ABC had the honour of supporting four sketchbooks by the watercolour artist: Piaggetta, Andando al lago, Mare, and Cannelle.

“I would like my books to inspire people to feel wonder at creation and joy in discovery, which inevitably leads to knowledge: to be moved by the beauty of a flower and then feel the need to learn its name. Knowing the names of things makes them dear and precious to us, and fosters the desire to care for them, respect them, and teach others to do the same. We must rediscover within ourselves the ability to perceive and embrace beauty.”

Piaggetta is a book of art and memory in which the author-painter depicts, through fifty delicate watercolours, the cherished place of her origins: a picturesque corner on the shores of Lake Massaciuccoli. Once an ancient little port, now immersed in the silence of the surrounding fields, Piaggetta becomes through her images and words a symbol of harmony between nature and memory—a landscape that changes with the seasons yet remains unchanged in the hearts of those who love it.

Andando al lago follows a walking route between Bozzano and Quiesa, in the landscape of the Massarosa reclamation area. With her artistic sensitivity, Antonella captures the lights, reflections, and silences of a nature suspended between water and land, transforming the journey into a visual narrative of great delicacy and poetry.

Antonella offers us a unique perspective on our marine environment, highlighting not only its splendour but also the urgent need to care for our planet. Each page is an invitation to observe, cherish, and protect the natural world around us.

Cannelle is a special illustrated guide that narrates, through words and watercolours, the route from the Lipu Oasis to Monte Cocco, along a picturesque section of the Massarosa stretch of the Puccini cycling and walking path. Through colours, atmospheres, and natural glimpses, the watercolour artist invites readers to discover the subtle beauty of the landscape, transforming each stop into an encounter with nature and the tranquillity of the place.
