Giornali Prigionieri - La stampa di prigionia durante la Grande Guerra

In 2024, the Foundation once again supported Professor Giuseppe Ferrero in the publication of Giornali Prigionieri, focusing on prisoner-of-war publications during the First World War.

During the First World War, approximately six hundred thousand Italian soldiers were sent to prisoner-of-war camps in the Austro-Hungarian and German Empires. The prisoner-of-war newspapers provide a unique tool for exploring the lives of Italian prisoners from the inside, revealing their historical, cultural, social, and deeply human aspects. They became a surprising psychological escape for Italian soldiers captured by the enemy—a way to survive the hell and monotony of the camps.
